NCLCI press release |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 27, 1996 A STATEMENT OF THE NATIONAL CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE FOR ISRAEL ON JERUSALEM The National Christian Leadership Conference for Israel (NCLCI) reaffirms its conviction that Jerusalem should remain the single, undivided political capital of Israel. We also express our expectation that within Jerusalem, the overall municipal government will make every reasonable effort to guarantee access to their historical holy places and unfettered freedom for worship by adherents of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions. In addition, we believe that, insofar as possible, individual neighbor- hoods or other regions within the city, particularly those comprised of adherents to a single religious tradition, be accorded by the municipal government as much freedom for self-determination as the general welfare of the city permits. |
