What does NCLCI do?

NCLCI acts as an advocate for Israel in public forums, in the press and in churches across the country.

NCLCI publishes a paper, Honor the Promise, and insider reports on specific issues to increase Christian understanding and appreciation of Israel and the Jewish people as Jews.

NCLCI participants speak at national conferences, such as:

  • Washington Summits for Israel
  • American Israel Public Affairs Committee's (AIPAC's) annual Christian seminars
  • National Workshops on Christian Jewish Relations

NCLCI is active in local events on Israel, the Holocaust and Christian-Jewish relations.

NCLCI leaders organize tours to Israel.

NCLCI conducts fact-finding missions to Israel and the Middle East.

NCLCI executive committee members monitor their denominational publications to challenge inaccurate reporting.

NCLCI has drafted and distributed public statements on significant issues pertaining to Israel and the Middle East:

  • called for the Vatican to recognize Israel (1979, 1985)
  • demanded the United Nations rescind its resolution 3379 equating Zionism with racism (1985), the first organization to do so
  • protested against Syrian involvement in Lebanon (1982)
  • protested arms sales to Arab nations hostile to Israel (1984)
  • declared support for a united Jerusalem as the Jewish capital of Israel (1990, 1993, 1994)
  • condemned terrorism (1991, 1996), hate crimes and antisemitism (1992)
  • supported the peace process, while remembering the PLO Covenant's calls for Israel's destruction (1993)
