Jordan's Fate Key to Middle East Stability

Will Jordan remain stable? “This is always the great question,” said Anja Wehler-Schoeck, the Jordan and Iraq resident director for Germany’s Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung during the July 14 panel “Jordan and the Challenges of Confronting ISIS Next Door,” held in Washington, D.C.’s Woodrow Wilson Center. She was joined in her discussion of internal developments in Jordan – especially since the onset of the Arab uprisings – by fellow panelist David Schenker of The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, who argued that Jordan has defied the odds since its independence year of 1946. UN Decries Building in Beit El

UN chief Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday condemned Israel's approval of 300 new homes in Samaria and called on the government to reverse its decision. ISIS Targets Kurds in Southern Turkey

An ISIS-linked suicide bomber attacked the southern Turkish border town of Suruç last Monday, killing 32 and wounding 100. The victims were preparing for a trip to reconstruct the war-torn Syrian town of Kobane, which has been held by the Kurdish People’s Democratic Union (PYD) since late January after a four-month battle with ISIS. Analysts have described the attack as spillover from the ISIS-PYD conflict and the broader struggle between Islamists and Kurds in Syria and Iraq. The Islamist-versus-Kurdish dichotomy, however, is too simplistic: the bomber in this week’s attack was reportedly an ethnic Kurd himself. The People’s Democratic Party (HDP) made global headlines last month as it beca

Cracks Forming Among Israeli Leaders?

There’s a deep crack emerging in the veneer of wall-to-wall support offered by Israel’s political leadership to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his war against the Iran nuclear agreement. The crack has a name you might recognize: the Israeli security establishment. You know — the folks whose job it is to identify and address threats to Israel’s safety. A small but growing group of high-power ex-commanders has been speaking out in media interviews and op-ed essays in the past few days, saying that Netanyahu has got the Iran issue wrong. A Critique of Palestinian Nationalism

One of the strongest arguments of the Zionist Left is based on the very principles that lie at the foundation of Zionist nationalism and the right to self-determination. The Zionist Left argues that Zionism doesn’t just allow for the creation of a Palestinian state, it mandates it. (Read More...)

J Street Hails Iran Nuclear Deal

The liberal Jewish lobby J Street on Tuesday praised the agreement struck between the major world powers and Iran over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. Empowering anti-Israel Propaganda?

(Dr. Billy Wilson, in Israel) Empowered 21 (E21), a worldwide Christian organization based in Tulsa, OK and the sponsor of a Global Congress in Jerusalem in May 2015, may be endangering its credibility, and the credibility of the Christian faith it seeks to propagate, because of its relationship with Palestinian Christians who promote a fallacious anti-Israel narrative. This global entity, which intends to “shape the future of the Spirit-empowered movement” and evangelize every person on earth by 2033, claims to represent 640,000,000 evangelical and pentecostal Christians. Therefore, the potential fallout from an alliance with those who spread dishonest propaganda against Israel is significa

Alternative to UCC Vote?

(Grafton, MA) Following the vote for Divestment from the Israeli occupation of Palestinian Territories in the United Church of Christ (“UCC”), a group of UCC clergy has organized to present an alternate vision to the denomination. The group, “UCC Clergy for a Just Middle East Peace,” believes that a more balanced, fair and realistic approach to peace and justice in Israel and Palestine is necessary in order for the UCC to be an effective and credible voice. Israel Building Fence to Keep Out ISIS

TEL AVIV, Israel — Israel has taken one more step to walling itself off from its neighbors. The border with Jordan is the last Israeli frontier that is totally open to a neighboring country; the borders with Egypt, Syria and Lebanon are all fenced off. But the nation's Security Cabinet adopted a proposal last month to build an approximately 18-mile-long fence along Israel's eastern border with Jordan. (Read More...)

Fighting the New Anti-Semitism

How does one effectively fight anti-Semitism and its newest mutation, anti-Israelism? The first step must be to understand how these phenomena are manifested and who is behind them. Over the past decade as anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism increased exponentially, many books covering the subject have been published. Until now, aside from magisterial works of the late Robert Wistrich and the excellent analysis by Daniel Goldhagen, The Devil That Never Dies: The Rise and Threat of Global Anti-Semitism, there has not been a contemporary review of the global battlefield covering the world’s oldest hatred. There are other valuable studies but they are of limited scope. (Read More...)

Nader: Worst Anti-Semitism is Directed at Anti-Semites

People say a lot of bad things about Ralph Nader, but let's not forget his ego is the reason that George W. Bush became president. Al Gore certainly can't forget it. Sure crazy Uncle Ralph Nader sometimes sits down and explains how the Jews are hogging the whole anti-Semitic thing, but that's probably just because he resents his lifelong nemesis Bernie Sanders hogging all the Socialist glory. LONDON — A bitter row broke out at the end of a rally Friday in Golders Green, north London.
