Latin American Immigrants Settle in Israel While Preserving Their Identity

While the United States immigration debate continues to cause dissension among many Americans, on the other side of the world, Latin American immigrants are making themselves at home in Israel while still maintaining their love for their native countries.
It was recently estimated that 150,000 Latin American immigrants live in Israel. In spite of ongoing hostility related to the conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians, these expats still claim to have a “life within this dangerous life.” Tango music ringing out from the streets of one of Israel’s most dangerous areas – a Kibbutz near the Gazans border which has seen many rocket strikes – perfectly illustrates the roots the Latin Americans have put down, despite “this dangerous life.”
